The A7Z/A9U are new ANSI type 2, zero power, optical communication probes. They are bidirectional interfaces that utilize infrared light. They provide an ANSI rated optical communication interface for programming and reading electric utility meters using either a serial RS232 port or a serial USB port. When connected to a serial port, the A7Z/A9U permits isolated communication with meters.
